Dobrý den Douglasi, trávím další sobotní ráno ve Vaší společnosti:-) samozřejmě poslechem Vašeho ranního vysílání. Blahořečením tu sobotu, kdy jsem se probudila brzo ráno, nadávala si, že přece nemusím vstávat do práce, tak proč nespím, pustila si rádio a tam běžel Váš pořad (to už je nějaký rok zpátky). Teď si přeju, abych byla ve Vaši sobotu ráno vzhůru co nejdříve, abych slyšela Váš pořad. Pokaždé mě nesmírně nabijete pozitivní energií, mám ráda Váš hlas, Vaši úžasnou češtinu a Váš hudební styl. Chtěla jsem Vám to napsat už dávno, ale nějak jsem neměla odvahu nebo co, až dnes to klaplo:-). A jste první moderátor (a myslím, že i jediný), kterému něco takového píšu. Doufám, že Vás budu mít možnost poslouchat ještě dlouhé roky! Mějte se krásně. Monika

I’ve just had dinner and downed a few beers (unfortunately, not the green variety) with Doug. What a guy! Doug’s a great story teller who should be on the lecture circuit (typography, design, open source, tech, life chronicles… you catch my drift). It wasn’t easy to concentrate on my dinner as he recounted his life’s path from the day he received the invitation from his college buddies to come join them in Prague to start a newspaper there (he had worked for the LA Times) to “selling his soul” in order to feed his young family, to being offered the chance to “unsell” it!
On this very night he told me that his dad, back in California had been awarded a prize for his invention that will make sand bagging (using bags filled with sand) in time of floods obsolete. I then googled him and discovered that he is also a DJ! Too bad that did not come up during the few hours we spent together on a wintry night in Harare. I used to be a DJ on college radio back in the day and still DJ at clubs and parties (when the regular DJ’s kind enough to give me an hour or so to spotlight my talents!) and would’ve shared some of my experiences with him.
Oh well, Doug will be back in the Fall so there’s still a chance to share more with a kindred spirit. Here’s to the next time…

Hi Douglas!
I came home on Saturday at cca 6 am from the bar, and because of my sleeping disorder, rolled a joint and listened to the R1. Oh my God it was just awesome! I love it soo much, your daughter was so funny, I was just falin´asleep and waking up and there was alway good music on da radio! Thank you soo much for beautiful Saturday morning

Thanks a lot! I have heard you and your daughter (it is 9.39 a.m.) for the first time on Radio 1, and I must say your playlist was the best ever heard on Radio 1. That´s exactly my cup of coffee.
