A couple of years ago, a friend told me her theory on what she called Iva Kubelkova syndrome. The theory goes like this: your knowledge of who Iva Kubelkova is is actually displacing useful knowledge from your brain, like Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle, the Third Law of Thermodynamics, or EU taxation law.

You could know those things, but instead you know that Iva Kubelkova played golf in high heels.

Updated Wed, Jul 2: An American translation would be: Joyce DeWitt syndrome.
