Today marks Thanksgiving, the day when the visionary Princess Libuše, leading the Czech tribes in search of a homeland and facing certain starvation in the coming winter, met local Indians, who gave them knowledge of foodstuffs that would get them through the harsh winter: knedliky, pivo, smažený sýr, and most importantly, pork in all its permutations.

To mark this important day, we shape pork into the form of a turkey, and stuff ourselves silly while watching overpaid lummoxes beat each other unconscious before a bloodthirsty crowd on TV Nova’s “Kotel.”
