Today’s New York Times has a great profile of Zdeněk Miler, otherwise known as the father of Krtek, the beloved Czech cartoon character.

The article says that while the last Krtek film was made in 2002, there will be no more made because Miler refuses to sell the rights – something similar to if the Disney studio folded in 1966 after the death of its founder.

For me, the Krtek cartoon where the rabbit gives birth is my favorite.

Here’s a link to the Japanese Krtek page, from the Big Cartoon Database, and the Kratky Film website, where you can order your own Krtek movies on video and DVD.
