My good friend Emmanuelle Richard has a pretty cool job. She covers my home, Southern California, for various French media. Usually they send her out to cover things like the Oscars, natural disasters, or our coming robot overlords.

Her latest assignment is absolutely excellent. She went out to the desert to write a story about Cheeta, the chimpanzee, who is 71 years old, retired, and, like many retired people, living in Palm Springs. Cheeta was famous in the 1940s and 50s, when he appeared in Tarzan movies. Now he does what most retired people do: He eats chips, paints, lays around the pool, and rides around in golf carts. While we don’t get the story on her Buzznet moblog, we do get some excellent pictures from her and Frédéric Neema at Gamma.
