Identity Theft and the Charles de Gaulle Collapse

Once again, my radio silence is caused by the metric f*ckload of work I’ve had to do in order to arrange the flurry of visas for my West African colleagues.

With all the travel details and visa stuff I’ve had to go through lately, it’s meant that I’m in a strange airport transit zone of the mind, where all they have on TV is crappy CNN hotel ads and the chairs are all vaguely uncomfortable.

So it was a shock to hear the news on Sunday of the airport collapse at Charles de Gaulle airport, and the sadness was compounded by reports that one of the four victims was a Czech woman.

The already tragic story took a strange turn today, when authorities said the woman who died in fact wasn’t Czech, but was traveling on stolen documents from the Ukraine to Florida.
