Back in the day at Prognosis, I had a British colleague who was fond of saying, “Leave me alone. I’m in a lot of pine.” It took me a while to realize she was saying “pain,” but that’s because I’m slow.
I think I know what she means, because I, too, am in a lot of pine right about now. I’ve had a toothache all week, and yesterday it got so bad I had to go to the dentist. She said I had an impacted, infected wisdom tooth and it had to come out Right Now.
After three hours, she managed to extract the top part, and gave up on the bottom part, choosing instead to arrange a time with an oral surgeon. So I went, and it’s out. But it looks like I’ve got a grapefruit in my mouth.
The tooth fairy doesn’t come to pick up wisdom teeth, does she?
