The Umbrellas of Cherbourg

Have I ever mentioned that The Umbrellas of Cherbourg is one of my favorite films of all time?

Kafkaville is full of cloudbursts, and I’m having my fair share of mental cloudbursts as well, so when I happened to turn on the TV tonight, it was to my great luck and happiness I happened to catch Umbrellas on TV5 on the cable.

Lovely from its first frame to its last. Michel Legrand is a genius.

It left me bopping around the house, singing dialogue as they do in the film: ‘Oh no, the phone bill has arrived!’ ‘Don’t fret, we’ll transfer that tomorrow…’

  1. the sad thing is that the soundtrack is not available anymore in France! I tried to find it for Bonnie and Charlie who have a crush on the movie but without success…
