My show this week was devoted entirely to music issued in 2009. The Notorious bWg has noted that music usually gets better in harder economic times, and 2009 was no exception. For me, what was surprising how a lot of indie groups embraced house and disco, and how a lot of house and techno DJs turned their sights to rock for inspiration.

It was also great to see up-and-coming groups, DJs and producers come from countries we usually associate with traditional music – some of my favorite remixes came from Brazilian DJ duo The Twelves, for example.

For me, the single of the year has to be Sia’s “You’ve Changed,” from her upcoming album “We Are Born,” which should be out in early 2010. Here’s the video:

2009 was a very good year musically. I can’t wait to see what 2010 has in store.

As always, the entire show’s setlist is available as a Google Spreadsheet here.
